THE STORY BEHIND THE VIDEO
Joe Gillis, Odin Abbott, and the Groovie Ghoulies shot 3 music videos for the Ghoulies’ Monster Club album: Running with Bigfoot, Don’t Go Out into the Rain (You’re Going to Melt), and the unreleased 50,000 Spaceships (Watching Over Me). They shot all 3 videos on the same day, grabbing shots as they drove up into Bigfoot country in Northern California.
50,000 Spaceships (Watching Over Me) was edited back in 2003, but sat on the shelf awaiting spaceship effects. After the Groovie Ghoulies broke up, it appeared unlikely it was ever going to be released.
Joe met with Kepi at the end of 2019, and they got to talking about the video. That meeting left Joe with the desire to finish the last shot and put it out into the universe… that and his alien watchers demanded it.
In addition to that, he remastered it in High Definition.
